My explanation for my paintings might be a little obstreperous - (I looked it up, and it is the right word- It means somewhat rebellious in sort of a slightly irrational stubborn way)... I think that a painter should be able to paint anything, and in no particular order. A teacup one day, then a landscape, then a portrait, then an abstract teacup, then a monochromatic geometric design, then a cartoon dog… If common themes emerge as I paint more and more, that’s great. And if common themes don’t emerge, I'll just have to keep painting. I do like themes! …I might say that color is the common thread, but that is only partially true, and it sounds a little bit sarcastic. I admit, I am sarcastic, but I’m not trying to be here…given that I'm in various categories of subject and style, I’ve divided the ‘pages’ into Older, Newer, and Not the Oldest, But not New.
